CHECK FOR SNOOPERS ON IPHONE

Your first port of call should be to check which devices are signed in to your Apple ID.

This is easily done: just go to Settings > [Your Name].

Then if you see a device that you don’t recognize, tap on it and select Remove From Account.

Otherwise, that person would be able to not only access your iCloud-saved iMessages but so much more.

An even better more in-depth method is to use the iPhone‘s Safety Check feature.

You can find it by going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Safety Check.

This reveals who you’re sharing private info with – like photos or location – and lets you stop it in seconds.

“You can use Safety Check to check whom you’re sharing information with, restrict Messages and FaceTime to your iPhone, reset system privacy permissions for apps, change your passcode, change your Apple ID password and more,” Apple explained.

If you want to use Safety Check, you’ll need to have an iPhone running iOS 16 or later.

You can check on this by going into Settings > General > Software Update.

With Safety Check, you can also remove devices signed into your account, change your Apple ID password, and change your Apple ID password.

There’s also an Emergency Reset option, as Apple describes: “You use it to immediately stop sharing the items listed above, which includes all types of sharing.

“Emergency Reset also allows you to review and reset settings associated with your Apple ID.”

CHECK FOR SNOOPERS ON WHATSAPP

There’s also a similar option on WhatsApp for quickly checking where your account is being shared.

With WhatsApp, it’s possible to link devices to access your account from places that aren’t your smartphone.

It’s supposed to be a useful feature, but you’ll want to triple-check no one has linked your account to their device.

Open the app on your phone then go into your settings.

Then choose the option Linked Devices and make sure that you recognize everything on the list.

If you see a device that you don’t recognize, simply remove it.

iPhone tricks to try today

Here are some of the best…

  • Typing cursor – When typing, hold down the space bar to turn your keyboard into a trackpad, letting you move around words and sentences more easily
  • Close all Safari tabs – To do this in one go, simply hold the overlapped squares in the bottom right-hand corner, and press close all tabs
  • Delete lots of photos quickly – Hold down on a photo and then drag your finger diagonally in Photos to select lots of images at once, then hit delete
  • Convert currency quickly – Swipe down from the top of your Home screen, then tap in the bar and type a currency (like €200) and it will automatically covert to your local currency
  • Check if you’re due a battery upgrade – Batteries inside smartphones degrade over time. Just go to Settings > Battery > Battery Health, and check out the Maximum Capacity reading. Generally a battery is considered worn when you’re down to 80% capacity. If you’re below, you can buy a battery swap from Apple
  • Move apps around faster – Hold an app until it starts wiggling, then (while still holding) tap other apps, causing them to stack so you can move them around easier
