THE time for giving is fast approaching, and if you’re not into gaming it can be hard to find gifts for your gaming loved ones.

There are mountains of gaming-branded merchandise out there, and not all of it is appreciated.

Please, no more Funko Pops.

While there are plenty of amazing gifts gamers will enjoy, there is also plenty that would make us cringe.

Here’s our list of the gaming merchandise you may want to avoid.

Controller mugs

These are commonly sold in supermarkets and Amazon, in a range of different forms, all of them as hideous as they are impractical.

While gaming-branded crockery doesn’t have to be bad, the fact that you have to hold it by a bumpy controller is awkward and uncomfortable.

They may have your friend’s favourite console on them, but don’t be fooled by this one.

Gaming scents

These are unfortunately very much a thing, and something we don’t want to be a part of.

Our consoles smell of grease and burning, which is something we try to wash off at the end of the day.

From Lynx’s Xbox collaboration, to Nvidia’s bath products to help you smell like a graphics card, we don’t want any part of this.

Neon gamer posters

At some point in time no one is quite sure of, it was unanimously decided that gamers just LOVE neon.

Unfortunately, this is rarely true, and year after year  we still receive things emblazoned in neon with weird gaming catchphrases.

Please don’t do this to us. We don’t need another thing to add to the pile.

Funko Pops

Alongside neon, it was also decided that we loved Funko Pops, and I don’t believe this was ever discussed with us.

There are hundreds of Funko Pops and we don’t want any of them. Not even one from our favourite game.

The soulless dead eyes should be enough of a giveaway that we don’t want these in our houses, but still, we keep getting them.

Gaming slogan T-shirts

Gaming has some gorgeous apparel. Just look at the lines sold by BlackMilk and Irregular Choice to see some gorgeous designs.

These cheap T-shirts with random gaming slogans on them are not only not funny, they will never be worn.

They all come with slogans to suggest that none of us go outside, which may be true, but we don’t want to advertise it.
