A DAD who won a whopping £5.4million playing a £1.40 game on his phone has now spent the money on a lifelong dream.

Michael Clark, 32, scooped the biggest payout in bookmaker Betfred’s 56-year history at Christmas.

The football-loving father has now married his partner of 11 years Sherelle Pooley at St James’ ParkNewcastle United‘s home ground.

The couple even sent an invite to Betfred boss Fred Done, after saying the big win has totally changed their lives.

Michael and Sherelle, who worked as carers before their win, tied the knot six months after becoming multi-millionaires – having been engaged for seven years.

And the couple, who have three children together, spared no expense for their glitzy ceremony.

The Newcastle man told ChronicleLive: “I chose the venue for the wedding, while Sherelle chose everything else.

“She always wanted a big wedding and she certainly had that.”

Michael added: “It’s brilliant that Fred, who is such a down-to-earth fella, has made all this possible.

“I was chuffed to bits when he turned up to celebrate our big day. Without him, this wouldn’t have been possible.”

The pair also replaced Sherelle’s engagement ring – with one costing £7,000 as opposed to the £1,000 one bought in 2016.

Michael also splashed out on diamond earrings, a necklace and a bracelet for his now-wife’s 28th birthday.

He added: “It’s been absolute chaos since I became not just a millionaire, but a multi-millionaire.

“There’s no denying it – it’s been absolutely manic.”

Sherelle said: “We have been together for 11 years and engaged for seven.

“We would probably have got married when we could have afforded it at a registry office.

“Now we can afford all this, not just for us, but for all family and friends who are so important to us. It’s just fantastic and what a start to married life.”

The couple have also traded in their home on a council estate for a £750,000 on a five-bedroom Killingworth home, and poured money into toys like a quad bike, electric motorcycle, jacuzzi and pool table.

Michael made sure his parents had new homes, while he and Sherelle have been touring the country in their brand new £60,000 campervan.

He added: “I’m passionate about my family and if I can help people I will.

“Soon I’ll have passed my driving test and then I can go car shopping. I thought at first maybe a Tesla, but now I’ve got my eyes on a Range Rover because it’ll be better for getting the family around.”

And although the couple have already jetted off on international trips, and have big ones – including their £13,000 honeymoon – planned, they still enjoy the simple things in life.

Michael said he still loves a Greggs sandwich and KFC – which is where he and Sherelle first met.

The 32-year-old said: “I go for a Zinger Stacker, but she always has a fillet with no sauce.

“That’s what she had when I used to work at KFC and she tracked me down to another branch and we went for a coffee.

“At least I know she’s not after my money.”
