EXPERTS have shared five signs that your home has a potentially dangerous electrical fault.
Signs of ghosts are likely just dangerous electrical faults, tech experts from UK consumer safety charity Electrical Safety First revealed.

“We’re all familiar with scenes in horror movies where the lights constantly flicker and trip,” Richard Harvey, an electrical installation safety engineer at Electrical Safety First, explained.
“But the reality is far more scary than any ghost,” he added.
“Flickering lights or bulbs that keep blowing are likely caused by a loose connection in your wiring rather than the supernatural.”
And these types of electrical problems can have disastrous consequences – like your home catching on fire.
Below we have shared five signs that your house is not haunted by ghosts, but by dodgy electrics.
SIGNS OF ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS
One of the first signs people associate with ghosts is lights that continue to blow or flicker.
However, the reality is, that if you’re constantly finding yourself without lights, there is likely a loose connection.
A second sign that people mistakenly attribute to ghosts is an unpleasant fish or sulfur smell.

However, this is often the result of the burning smell of sockets or plastic.
Experts say this should immediately be reported to landlords or electricians.
Seeing green goo coming out of your electrical sockets might seem ghoulish, but it’s probably just a chemical reaction from old wiring.
Harvey explained this occurrence further: “A green goo-like substance oozing from your plug sockets is far more likely to be linked to deteriorating wiring than a mutant invasion.
“When green goo appears, it can adversely affect protective components within your socket and leave you exposed to risk of electric shock in the future.
“It is mostly seen in wiring predating 1960 and is a chemical reaction between the plastic and copper.”
Another sign of electrical failure is yellowing plug sockets, which could be a sign of overheating and a possible risk of fire.
Finally, if the electricity keeps tripping, this could be an indicator that your circuits are overloaded or that the wiring in the property is deteriorating.

“A far more effective way of tackling these ghostly signs isn’t to call the Ghostbusters,” Harvey said.
“A competent and registered electrician will be able to rid your home of any potentially dangerous electrical faults to ensure your property is safe,” he continued.
