WHEN it comes to saving money, it really is a case of “the more the merrier”.

With budgets tighter than ever in the run-up to Christmas, you can still save and have fun.

From group meals to bookings, there are loads of reasons why clubbing together saves cash.

DAYS OUT: Use websites like Groupon and Livingsocial.co.uk to book events and accommodation at discounted group prices.

There is everything from family attractions to great restaurants and spa days.

There’s currently a paintballing deal for ten people at 16 possible UK locations for £10 — usually it’s £178!

TRAVEL SMART: Get yourself a Family & Friends Railcard at £30 for one year, or £70 for three years.

If you’re travelling with kids, up to four adults save a third using Groupsave.

There’s 60 per cent off for up to four kids aged five to 15 (under-fives free), plus discounts on theme parks and museums.

The Two Together card will save ⅓on two people travelling at the same time and costs £30 a year, so you can easily make back the cost in a couple of trips.

EAT CLEVER: Sharing cooking with friends and family nearby is a great way to save.

When you’re cooking for more than ten, it doesn’t cost much for an extra couple of cans to bulk out meals.

When eating out, look for “two-for” deals and share between three, which can save more, or try a children’s meal — the portions tend to be good.

Stock up on dry items at Costco, and if you buy in bulk packs you can split between family and friends.

SHARE A PROBLEM: Set up a WhatsApp group with local friends as this can really help you all to save money.

Group members can share their Halloween or fancy dress costumes, and around school holidays you could swap uniforms that kids have outgrown.

GIVE ONE GIFT: When it comes to birthdays or children’s party gifts, clubbing together for one extra special pressie is a better way to save than everyone buying small individual gifts.

BECOME FASHION FRIENDS: Host your own “swap shop” event, where everyone brings items they no longer want and you can exchange them with each other.

It’s a really fun night of free shopping and you could get everyone to bring a snack to keep the costs of nibbles down!
