TIKTOK is trialling letting users make three minute long videos rather than the usual 60 seconds.

This is according to social media consultant Matt Navarra who tweeted about being one of the first people to get early access to the feature.

Navarra tweeted a screenshot from the TikTok Account Updates section which stated: “You have early access to uploading videos up to 3 minutes long on the TikTok app and desktop!

“To Try it out, make sure your app is up-to-date and try uploading a video from your device to the app or tiktok.com”

It’s unclear how many people will get to try out this feature.

TikTok is known for its super short watchable videos that keeps users scrolling down their feed.

It’s likely TikTok won’t be rolling out the feature on a large scale until it can tell whether people actually like it.

Users can also turn to Instagram Reels or YouTube if they want to watch longer video clips so TikTok will be competing against these platforms.

TikTok fans have been tweeting mixed thoughts on the three minute video concept.

@BrianVlasich tweeted: “Good move…it’d be cool if it was like IG TV…”

Whereas @itsKamalnehme said: “I don’t think it will play out well but lets see! I think the reason of tiktok’s HUGE success is the ability to go from video to video, watch and consume multiple ideas in a matter of 5 mins, which in turn will drag you into a 2 hour session without knowing.”
