Aldi to extend click and collect service to 200 stores before Christmas

ALDI is extending its click and collect service to 200 more stores before Christmas.

Through click and collect, customers place an order online which is then picked and packed by shop staff.

When it’s time to collect your order, staff will bring out your bags – which are already packed – to your car.

Aldi first started trialling click and collect in September 2020 with the service currently available in 18 stores.

At these shops, click and collect costs between £3.99 and £4.99 depending on the day and time selected with a £25 minimum spend.

Before the start of the trial, only Aldi’s non-food Specialbuy and booze range was available for home delivery for a £3.95 fee, or click and collect at a “CollectPlus” store or location for £2.95.

Which Aldi stores will have click and collect?

ALDI hasn’t revealed the full list of 200 shops getting click and collect before Christmas.

However, the supermarket has confirmed that the following 15 locations will be getting the new service this week:

Corby
Silverwoods Way
Porth
Topsham
Holliers Walk Hinckley
Lye
Bristol Longwell Green
Taunton
Irthlingborough
Weddington Road, Nuneaton
Bodmin
Llansamlet

But the rollout of click and collect will see the entire in-store Aldi range available to order online.

Click and collect orders are placed through groceries.aldi.co.uk.

To see if a store near you is offering the service, enter your postcode – if a store has click and collect available, you’ll then be able to choose a time slot.

Orders are then delivered to customers in dedicated parking bays.

Aldi has yet to reveal the full list of which stores will get click and collect before Christmas – but 15 stores have been confirmed to get the new service this week.

Aldi has around 900 stores in the UK.

How much supermarkets charge for click and collect delivery

HERE’S how much the major supermarkets charge for click and collect grocery deliveries:

Asda: Click and collect is free for next day or later deliveries. But you must spend at least £25, if not there’s a £4 charge.
Morrisons: Click and collect is free all day Monday to Thursday, from 12pm to 4pm on Fridays and Sundays, and from 2pm to 4pm on Saturdays. Outside these hours it costs £1 but only 14 stores currently offer this service.
Sainsbury’s: Click and collect is free for next day or later deliveries. But you must spend at least £40, if not there’s a £4 charge.
Tesco: Click and collect costs £1.50 if you spend at least £25, if not you’ll be charged an extra £4 on top.

Customers pay for their shopping online so all they need to do is pick it up from the store.

We’ve asked Aldi if customers need to pay for bags on top of their order and we’ll update this article when we know more.

The supermarket also has a home delivery service in partnership with Deliveroo where it’s trialling 30-minute deliveries across 150 products.

The service is currently available in around 40 stores, with the trial starting in locations across London, Greater Manchester, Cambridge and the Midlands.

Delivery for this service costs £4.99 per order and you’ll need to place an order of at least £15.

But you order via Deliveroo and not on the Aldi website.
