APPLE has created a potentially life-saving feature that reveals if someone is silently stalking you.

The feature is designed to work out when people – or apps – are taking liberties with your privacy.

It’s called Safety Check, and is designed to be used in special circumstances when something has made you worried.

“If your personal safety is at risk, you can use Safety Check on iPhone to quickly stop sharing your information,” Apple said.

“Or to review and update sharing with individual people and apps.”

It’s free to use and can be activated at any time.

How does Safety Check work?

Safety Check lets you see who you’re sharing info with – and put a stop to it.

You can restrict your Messages and FaceTime, and reset privacy permissions for apps.

The feature lets you quickly change your passcode and your Apple ID password too.

Importantly, you can change any of these settings back whenever you want.

How to use Safety Check

First, you’ll need to make sure you’re running iOS 16 or later.

Go to Settings > General > Software Update to check.

Apple has already released iOS 17, so there’s a good chance your iPhone is already set up to use Safety Check.

You’ll also need to have a personal Apple ID with two-factor authentication switched on.

Then navigate to Settings > Privacy & Security > Safety Check to access the feature.

You can see a list of apps and prevent them from sharing content with other people.

That includes Health, Home, Shared Calendars, Shared Location, Shared Notes, and Shared Photos.

You can also block apps from gathering certain types of data, including preventing access to the microphone, camera and contacts.

It’s possible to review and remove devices signed into your Apple ID account.

And you can update your emergency contacts, edit your Face ID info, and review trusted phone numbers too.
