Wanting to earn more money in a bid to make sure his family could live comfortably, the dad founded Artisan Electrics.

Jordan, from Cambridgeshire, has even gone to the lengths of creating a YouTube account to promote the company and share a look into the life of an electrician.

Successfully taking off, the firm turned over £720,000 in 2021.

However, after spending money on wages and equipment, the profit made was only £180,000.

On his YouTube channel, Jordan said: “We’ve spent a lot of money on staff, vans, tools and equipment.

“So although we turned over £720,000 which seems huge we actually only made £180,000 of net profit.

“We spent £185,000 on materials, we spent over £150,000 on wages, over £68,000 on sub-contractors and over £56,000 on freelancers.

“We spent over half a million pound just to keep the business ticking over.”

Jordan told his 204k subscribers the full profit amount doesn’t go into his pocket.

He said: “That is not lining the walls of my bank account.

“I pay myself a minimum wage in order to just survive and live comfortably.

“All the rest gets reinvested back into the business because now I feel responsible for 13 people’s livelihoods basically.

“So I’m trying to build up a little bit of a war chest so that if there were a few months where things went really bad we would still be able to pay everyone’s wages.

“That is down to me. Believe me I’m not rinsing it but I can live comfortably thanks to this amazing business that we’ve built.

“My goal has never been to be rich. My goal is simply to be financially free, to build a business that can support me and my family to do what we want to do.

“And we’re kind of getting there so I’m really grateful for that.”

It comes after electrician and project manager Danny Webb, 42, said tradespeople aren’t being “taken seriously” in society.
