ASDA’S Christmas advert for 2020 has landed and it’s about how Christmas will be different this year due to coronavirus.

Featuring a real-life family, the advert follows them getting ready for the festive season by decorating their house and stocking up for Christmas Day.

It starts with family man Sunny putting up Christmas lights on the house roof, although his neighbour Christine isn’t a fan.

The advert then shows his children peeking out the window as Asda delivery drivers bring up Christmas food to the house wearing face masks.

Sunny says in the ad: “I guess Christmas is going to be different this year, so let’s really make the most of it.

“The parties might be smaller, but we can still have great food and we can still party.”

The advert goes on to feature the family’s Christmas dinner, and focuses largely on Asda’s products, including its Bruce the Brussel Sprout Cake.

Viewers can also follow the children opening up their Christmas gifts.

The advert ends with the family watching Sunny turn on the Christmas lights on the house, much to the excitement of his children.

The whole property lights up in red and yellow colours, and above it, the ad says: “That’s Asda price”.

The advert is set to the 1967 Christmas classic That’s What Christmas Means to Me by Stevie Wonder.

It will launch at 8.45pm tonight, November 2, during the break of Coronation Street – but you can watch it above already.

Anna-Maree Shaw, Asda’s chief customer officer, said: “At Asda, we know how important Christmas is for our customers, this year more than ever before.

“Christmas is going to be a little different for everyone, but through our ‘Asda Price Christmas’ campaign, we want to reassure customers that everyone can have an extra special Christmas at the prices they want.”

Last year, Asda’s Christmas advert was a heartwarming story behind its northern lights festive campaign.

While the year before featured a cannon-firing Santa, yetis and a giant inflatable snowman.

Argos released its festive advert on Sunday – the first one for 2020 – and it’s about Christmas magic with Gary Barlow’s new single as the soundtrack.

Meanwhile, Amazon’s ad for this year features a ballet dancer whose performance is cancelled due to coronavirus.

The most hotly anticipated advert of the year – John Lewis – usually drops in the first two weeks of November.
