ASDA has expanded its 30-minute Uber Eats food home delivery service to 100 stores.

The speedy service has been rolled out to more shops following a trial in July at two stores in Leeds and Birmingham.

Asda had already expanded the service to 25 stores since the trial, but it today confirmed that 100 stores now offer the facility.

It’s separate to the home delivery service Asda offers from its website, where items are delivered by Asda staff.

But it could work out better for shoppers with smaller orders, as you won’t need to spend a minimum amount to qualify for delivery.

You need to spend a minimum of £40 to order direct from Asda.

The tie-up sees Asda shoppers order groceries from the supermarket through the Uber Eats app or website, which is free to sign up to.

Items are then picked by Asda workers in-store, but are delivery by Uber Eats drivers.

However, you should keep in mind that you’ll still pay a delivery fee on top of your order, plus you may also need to pay a service fee.

This usually varies depending on how far away you are from the restaurant or supermarket.

In comparison, Asda delivery ordered direct from the supermarket costs between £1 and £7 depending on the day and time you want your food delivered.

Over 300 Asda products are available to order via Uber Eats, including ready meals, fresh fruit and vegetables, and beer, wine and spirits.

To find out if your local Asda offers the service, type your postcode into the Uber Eats app.

The supermarket will then appear on your Uber Eats account if you live near a participating restaurant.

Once you’ve selected Asda, you can then start adding groceries to your basket.

We’ve asked Asda how much the delivery and service fees cost on average and we’ll update this article when we know more.

Asda first launched the service to help more people order food from home following the coronavirus pandemic.

It follows similar action from rival grocers Morrisons and Aldi, who both have identical partnerships with Deliveroo.

MorrisonsSainsbury’s, and Tesco all offer home delivery services direct through their websites, each setting their own minimum spend and delivery fees.

In more Asda news, the supermarket has also rolled out its virtual queuing system to more stores.

We’ve rounded up the latest on supermarket rules on rationing, deliveries and shopping.
