ASDA has launched a new type of supermarket that could change how we shop forever.
The supermarket’s first “sustainability” store open in Middleton, just outside of Leeds, last week.

Shoppers can fill up their own reusable containers with products from big household favourite brands like Kellog’s, PG Tips and Vimto.
The range also include 30 household staples including Asda’s own brand rice and pasta.
The refill zone also includes popular brands of shampoo and conditioner as well as Persil detergent and Radox shower gel.
You can take in jars, bags or whatever container you like to fill up with the goods.

The idea is to cut plastic and limit waste.
If the idea is popular then Morrisons want to roll out the service to more of its supermarkets next year.
In order to encourage shoppers to shop more a sustainable way, Asda has also launched a new “Greener at Asda Price” promise.

It says loose products will not cost more than packaged equivalents.
Roger Burnely, Asda’s CEO and president, said: “Today marks an important milestone in our journey as we tackle plastic pollution and help our customers to reduce, re-use and recycle.”

Asda is not the first supermarket to launch this type of scheme. Plus, you may know about an independent shop in your area which does this.
Waitrose offers refill stations for key products in four branches – Oxford Botley road, Cheltenham, Walingford and Abingdon.
While Waitrose gives extra reward points to customers who bring containers to take home meat and fish.
