SAMSUNG customers with older devices have been warned they will soon lose access to all Wallet features, despite already missing out on future updates.
The Korean company has begun alerting millions Galaxy smartphone users that their handsets will no longer support Samsung Wallet.

Last year, Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass merged into one single app called Samsung Wallet, which is identical to the Apple Wallet and Google Wallet.
It lets people attach digital versions of their bank cards to their phone for tap payments on-the-go.
Virtual wallets have become a staple to people’s lives across the UK and the US, where nearly every store and transport system accepts tap payments.
Samsung Wallet also allows people to add their loyalty/membership cards, bus/flight/train tickets, gift cards, digital keys, and government-approved IDs.

However, the key feature will soon stop working on Galaxy phones running Android 9.0 or earlier from March 15 2024.
The shut-off will begin in Canada, although it is quietly expected to soon make its way to Samsung users in the US and the UK.
Will my phone be affected?
Samsung offers devices seven years worth of software support, as it believes most customers will have upgraded to a newer handset in that time.
Without support, devices stop receiving new features and security patches, which can make their phone sluggish and at risk of hacking.

If you have a Galaxy S8 or Galaxy Note 8, then your device could soon lose support of the Samsung Wallet feature.
If your handset is even older than the Galaxy S8 – which hit shelves in 2017 – then your Samsung phone will lose support too.
Should Samsung Wallet be a key feature in your world, it’s recommended to upgrade your device to models that are compatible with Android 10 and beyond.
It’s important to note that if you do go for an Android 10-supported phone, that that device may lose support next year.
The latest – and safest in terms of losing support – software is Android 14-supported devices, such as the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S24 models.
