EVERY day feels a bit like a Monday right now.

And today is the one they call Blue Monday, supposedly the bleakest day of the year.

I don’t like that term.

I think it makes us feel even worse.

But if you do need a boost, here are some cheap-and-cheerful ideas.

Find total app-iness. There are lots of free resources to help you relax, such as guided meditations on Spotify and YouTube videos.

But if you want something more focused, the Calm app to improve sleep and meditation is very good.

You can currently enjoy seven days of premium access free.

Continuing with it costs £28.99 for a year but I was sent a “new member” offer giving 40 per cent off — so just £17.39 for the year.

SAVING: £11.60, plus a week free

Sweet yo’self. Adding blueberries and strawberries to your diet could lift your mood.

Studies suggest the antioxidants they contain have a positive effect on the brain, easing stress and anxiety.

Pick up a 1kg bag of frozen wonky berry mix at Morrisons, £3.25, and blend into a delicious but cheap smoothie.

The same weight of fresh berries costs £3.50 and won’t last as long.
Dark chocolate is another mood-booster.

Aldi’s Moser Roth 70 per cent cocoa dark chocolate bar, £1.49 for 100g, is a great dupe for Green & Black’s bar, £2 for 90g at Waitrose.

SAVING: 25p on 1kg of berries and 51p on chocolate

Sweat ’n’ smile. Exercise is the best way of all to boost your spirits but lots of us are missing the gym.

Set a time for a brisk walk each day to get an endorphin fix for free.

Resistance bands are great for home exercising for all ages.

A pack of five is £5 at Asda.

Share them with friends then get together over video-call for a group workout.

Nap happy. Getting your full eight hours’ kip a night is key to a better mood.

That is not always possible but This Works’ pillow spray, £19.50 at feelunique.com has long been a personal favourite.

But as it is pricey, I either dab lavender essential oil (£2.49, Amazon) on my wrists before bed for the same effect.

SAVING: Up to £17.01
