SHOPPERS will have more time to get Christmas gifts from Boots.

The high street store is extending its last dates for online orders by one day after Tier 4 lockdown restrictions plunged many people’s shopping plans into chaos.

People in Tier 4 areas can’t shop in many high street stores, as all but essential retail closes under the new lockdown rules.

Boots is extending its last dates for deliveries to arrive before Christmas, and its stores remain open in Tier 4 areas because it’s an essential retailer.

Shoppers can order online up until 4pm on Tuesday December 22 – a day later than before – and still get it delivered to their home before Christmas.

It will cost £4.95 for next-day delivery, as the deadline for standard delivery has already gone.

The deadline for placing an order online and collecting it in store with click and collect is 6pm on Tuesday December 22, a day extra too.

Can I return a Christmas order that arrives late?

IT can be really frustrating if you order a Christmas present and it doesn’t arrive on time.

If you want to return your gift, for example, because you had to buy something else, we explain your rights.

For presents ordered by the store’s last delivery date – the one it advertises online – you will be entitled to your money back if you no longer want the item.

You’ll need to have proof of when you placed your order, such as an email confirmation.

The retailer will also expect you to return the item. According to Resolver, the store you purchased the product from will usually be responsible for covering return costs, but this does depend on its terms and conditions, so read carefully.

If you want to keep the gift, you may be able to claim back some cash from the delivery costs. Contact the retailer to see what it can offer you.

If you paid extra for specific-day delivery, and it arrived after this date, the retailer should off you money back on the delivery cost.

Or at the very least, you’ll get the difference in price between its standard delivery and premium delivery.

Click and collect costs £1.50 or is free on orders over £20.

The last minute introduction of Tier 4 has left many people with no alternative but to shop online.

Many shops’ cut-off dates for delivery for online orders have now passed, unless shoppers are willing to pay more for speedier delivery.

Last orders for Smyths toy shop and Disney were on Sunday, along with Asos, Nike and Waterstones with standard delivery.

Today is the last day for ordering from Ernest Jones and H Samuel for items to arrive before Christmas.

It’s also the last day for orders from Topshop and Harvey Nichols without having to pay more for speedy delivery.
