This time last year, Chancellor Rishi Sunak could never have predicted just how much he was going to be thrown into the deep end when it came to his new role.

Roughly a month after replacing Sajid Javid, he delivered his maiden Budget speech as the coronavirus crisis began to unravel.

Four months after that, there was the summer mini-budget which included a number of measures which aimed to give British households and businesses help to recover from the first lockdown.

Now, with a fresh roadmap to get Britain out of lockdown three, Mr Sunak is under pressure to announce measures that do a combination of things: deal with the huge strain the crisis has had on public spending, help families and businesses hit by the crisis and also deliver some feel good news to help lift the gloom. Can he deliver?
