SFC Chicken Poppets and Take Home Boneless Buckets, which may be sold at stores like Tesco and Sainsbury’s, have also been recalled due to salmonella fears.

Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has issued the recall notice for Chicken Inn jumbo chicken nuggets with the packet size of 650g.

The recall covers the batch code 31453058 and the best before date of 01/2022 – both of which can be found on the bottom left-hand corner on the back of the packaging.

Your product recall rights

PRODUCT recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods.

As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.

But it’s often left up to supermarkets to notify customers when products could put them at risk.

If you are concerned about the safety of a product you own, always check the manufacturer’s website to see if a safety notice has been issued.

When it comes to appliances, rather than just food items, the onus is usually on you – the customer – to register the appliance with the manufacturer as if you don’t there is no way of contacting you to tell you about a fault.

If you become aware that an item you own has been recalled or has any safety noticed issued against it, make sure you follow the instructions given to you by the manufacturer.

They should usually provide you with more information and a contact number on its safety notice.

In some cases, the manufacturer might ask you to return the item for a full refund or arrange for the faulty product to be collected.

You should not be charged for any recall work – such as a repair, replacement or collection of the recalled item.

The FSA said: “Vestey Foods is recalling the above product. Point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling this product.

“If you have bought any of the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund,” it added.

You can get a full refund in store with or without the receipt and for more information, you can contact 0345 603 7300 or [email protected]

The FSA has also issued a recall alert for SFC Chicken Poppets and Take Home Boneless Bucket.

The recall covers the following batch codes, which can be found on the outside of the box.

  •  Chicken Poppets Pack size 190g Batch code L 15520 Best before 24 September 2021
  • Chicken Poppets Pack size 190g Batch code L13720 Best before 31 October 2021
  • Chicken Poppets Pack size 190g Batch code PKW008A Best before 28 February 2022
  • Chicken Poppets Pack size 190g Batch code PKW011A Best before 28 February 2022
  • Take Home Boneless Bucket Pack size 650g Batch code L19720 Best before 28 November 2021

SFC also says that point of sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products.

Customers who have bought any of the above products are being warned not to eat them.

They should instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund with or without the receipt.

Alternatively, you can email a photo of the product packaging clearly showing the batch code information printed on the inner bag of the products to [email protected] for a refund.

You should then safely dispose of the product at home.

Sainsbury’s released a statement saying that customers who bought packets of SFC Chicken Poppets 190g with a use by date of 31 October 2021, batch code L13720 and barcode 50 315 320 2005 6 from the supermarket should not eat them.

In a statement, Sainsbury’s said: “We are asking customers who have purchased this product not to eat it and to return the item to their nearest Sainsbury’s store for a full refund when they next visit for groceries & other essentials.

“For any concerns or queries or if you are vulnerable, shielding or otherwise unable to return the product to store then please email [email protected] with a photograph of the packaging which clearly shows the batch code information from the inner packaging.”

The supermarket added that no other products have been affected and SFC Wholesale would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Tesco, Heron Foods and B&M have not commented on the recall.

Lidl was recently forced to recall family packs of pork mince over fears they contain pieces of plastic.

Earlier this month, Lidl had to recall Red Hen Breaded Chicken Nuggets and Red Hen Southern Fried Chicken Pops after salmonella contamination was found in some of the products in the batch.

Meanwhile, Tesco recently issued a recall on packs of spicy chorizo slices over fears they could be contaminated with listeria.
