In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, @MoneySavingExp wrote: “Pssst… want to know a secret that could get you 20% at off H&M, Asos and more?

“If you fail to finish your online order and abandon your basket, you could receive a discount code to tempt you back.”

They then poised the question to their over 600,000 followers: “Do you know any other retailers where this works?”

In order to get the dream deals shoppers are advised to log in to their accounts, add items to your basket and then walk away and wait for an email.

Retailers see shoppers’ activity, so many will end up reminding you about your purchase with an email where they’ll nudge you with an enticing offer.

People flooded to the comments to reveal their favourite retailers that offer bargains if you do a double take before checking out.

One said: “Roman. Sosandar. All the time!”

As another excitedly said: “VITL vitamins… they have me 50% off… it was their third email!

“First was for 10% I think, second for 25% and third for 50!”

A number of other online shops were also famous for offering out deals to make sure they got a purchase over the line.

Curries, Hi Life and Hilary’s Blinds also gave out generous savings according to the comments.

This discovery comes after the Money Saving Expert icon Martin Lewis advised viewers to “walk away” from their online shopping basket to save hundreds of pounds on Christmas presents last month.

He says this can often include a discount code to motivate you to buy it.

It doesn’t always work but is worth a try.

Martin also advised shoppers to use price comparison websites such as Google Shopping and CamelCamelCamel.co.uk to find the best deals for you.

For more money saving tips shoppers should consider listening to savvy bargain expert Tom Church who has revealed the exact date you should do your Christmas food shopping to save cash.

The 31-year-old recently told shoppers how they can easily save £30 this festive season by heading to specific stores at specific times.

Tom explained: “There’s a big price difference between the supermarkets, over £30 between the cheapest and most expensive. I compared the cheapest option at each shop for the eight items.

“Some shops have more items in their budget ranges than others, so it’s difficult to compare quality, but if you’re simply looking for value, Aldi is the one to go for.
