A little-known firm has been flooded with complaints after taking over around 500,000 credit card customers’ accounts.

Post Office, Bank of Ireland and AA customers were bought by Jaja when it took over the Bank of Ireland’s credit cards.

But since the transfer on October 3 customers have reported a plethora of issues.

When Brian Coates downloaded Jaja’s app he found he had been charged an unexplained late-payment fee of £12. 

He cleared his bills, but these payments failed to appear on his statement. When he tried to call he was kept on hold for up to 50 minutes.

The London-based firm has a score of just one out of five on consumer site Trustpilot. And a damning 97 per cent of customers gave it the worst rating of ‘bad’.

Another former Post Office customer, Mike Berry, 75, struggled to log into his Jaja account as it failed to recognise his details.

After encountering further problems, Mike applied for a credit card with Halifax.

Mike, from Lancashire, says: ‘After being with the Post Office for so many years and having no problems, I feel so frustrated.’

A Jaja spokesman says: ‘Following the transfer, some customers have had difficulties registering for our services.

‘This has increased the number of calls to our service centre. We would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.’
