AN Android app has been removed from the Google Play Store that allowed users to text with iMessage-like blue bubbles as it was revealed it has access to all your data.
The Nothing Chat app promised users a first-of-its-kind experience for Androids, but now it seems was too good to be true.

If you have the Nothing Chat app on your Android, you should delete it to avoid issues.
The app was developed by Nothing in partnership with Sunbird and was intended to be a positive experience.
“Nothing is the first mobile company to offer a solution to one of the biggest frustrations between Android and iOS users,” Nothing said on its website.
However, after more investigation into its coding, it was revealed that it is not secure.
Tech expert and founder of Text.com, Kishan Bagaria, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to explain what his team discovered about Nothing Chat.
The Text.com team also published a blog titled “Sunbird / ‘Nothing Chats’ is Not Secure” and went into detail about some vulnerabilities that were found.
“Texts team took a quick look at the tech behind nothing chats and found out it’s extremely insecure it’s not even using HTTPS,” Bagaria said on X on November 17.
“Credentials are sent over plaintext HTTP backend is running an instance of BlueBubbles, which doesn’t support end-to-end encryption yet.”

Without these encryptions, the app could have access to the texts, photos, and videos you send.
On November 21, the Nothing Chat website updated its main page and said it removed it from the Google Play Store to work out some bugs.
It seems as if Nothing Chat wants to fix the issues that have been brought forward.
It is unclear if the insecure coding was intended.
“We’ve removed the Nothing Chats beta from the Play store and will be delaying the launch until further notice to work with Sunbird to fix several bugs,” the Nothing page update said.
“We apologize for the delay and will do right by our users.”
