University students forced to leave their dorms after discovery of potential second world war device

Thousands of people have been evacuated from their homes in Exeter while authorities investigate a possible unexploded second world war device, according to police.

A 400-metre (1,300-ft) cordon was in place on Saturday morning, with 2,600 homes evacuated on Friday evening and Saturday.
