Facebook Inc. told advertisers Tuesday it would allow political ads for the Georgia runoff elections starting Wednesday but would maintain a broader blackout for ads about social issues, elections or politics in the U.S. as part of its efforts to reduce misinformation, according to an email viewed by The Wall Street Journal.
Facebook, which follows a similar move by Alphabet Inc.’s Google, said it took into consideration feedback from experts and advertisers across the political spectrum about using its tools to reach voters ahead of the Georgia senate runoffs on Jan. 5.
