The most viewed homes for sale in Britain this year have been revealed – and they all reflect the wider shift that has taken place during the pandemic, as well as our desire to daydream about spending a huge windfall.
As more space became a highly sought-after commodity during lockdown, homebuyers prioritised larger homes in the countryside rather than small chic city abodes.
There is not a single luxury penthouse in the list of Rightmove’s most popular homes for sale this year.
Instead, they are all mansions with mega-price tags that run into eight figures.
The list of the most viewed homes for sale on Rightmove in 2020 has been revealed
The only exception is a house where the price is not advertised – although it is believed to cost a similar amount of money.
The estate agent has applied the term ‘price on application’ on this particular property listing, which could suggest that if you need to ask the price that you probably can’t afford it as it that expensive.
The five most viewed properties on Rightmove this year include a 10-bedroom mega-mansion sat in an impressive 30 acres of parkland with a £30million price tag.
There are also properties with vast entertainment complexes with games rooms, indoor swimming pools and glass ceilings.
Tim Bannister, of Rightmove, said: ‘We’ve seen many new trends unfold this year as home-movers have reassessed their housing needs and reprioritised what’s important to them.
‘However, one thing that’s remained constant is the nation’s curiosity to look inside the most amazing homes currently on the market and there’s no mistaking that these five properties are the crème de la crème this year.
‘Although what’s really interesting about this year’s annual round-up is that there aren’t any penthouse apartments in the list, which reflects a national trend of people wanting more space – both when they’re browsing dream homes as well as when they’re searching online or something a little more affordable.’
