Stealth mode: On!

Want to sneak your way to a place without leaving digital tracks? Turn on Incognito mode in Google Maps. This way, the app won’t record your stop.

Using Waze? You’re probably showing up on its public map. To make this stop, open Waze, tap Settings > Privacy and turn on Go Invisible.

Command with your voice

Why fumble with your phone when behind the wheel? Use your voice instead.

Start with a ‘Hey Siri’ or ‘OK, Google’ and then:

● ‘Guide me to [Destination].’

● ‘Take me home.’

● ‘Where am I right now?’

● ‘ETA, please?’

● ‘Locate the nearest gas station.’

● ‘Are we there yet?’ (OK, that was a fun one. Did you smile?)

The Magic Move:

● Fire up Waze.

● Tap Where to? and pick the Gas stations icon.

Prices come from the community. So, in busy areas, you’re likely spot on. Elsewhere, they might not always be up to date.

A short history of GPS

The Global Positioning System (GPS) originated in the early 1970s, spearheaded by the U.S. Department of Defense. Its primary purpose was to provide accurate, real-time navigation information for military operations. The system was designed to rely on a constellation of 24 satellites in medium Earth orbit, covering the entire globe.
