HOME Bargains stores will stay shut once again on Boxing Day this year, plus workers will get two weeks’ extra salary as a thank you too.
It’s the third year in a row that the discount chain has shut on December 26 to give their staff members a break.
And like previous years, the day off isn’t taken out of staff member’s holiday allowance, meaning workers will still get paid.
Home Bargains stores will also shut earlier at 5pm on Christmas Eve so all staff can be home in time to ring the bells at 6pm.
Plus many workers will also get two weeks’ extra salary in November, which could come in handy for Christmas.
It comes after Home Bargains announced in April that any team member who had to self-isolate due to coronavirus would receive up to two weeks pay.
Now the retailer wants to ensure all employees receive that pay, regardless of whether they have been required to self-isolate or not.
As such, any Home Bargains worker employed before March 22 who hasn’t needed to self-isolate over the last seven months, will get the cash in November.
The Sun has asked Home Bargains how the new Christmas bonus will be calculated, so we’ll update this article once we hear back.
It’s also yet to confirm what time its stores usually close on Christmas Eve.
Home Bargains has more than 22,000 employees and 500 stores across the UK.
A spokesperson for Home Bargains said: “We want to recognise how hard our staff have worked throughout some very challenging times and allow them to relax and truly enjoy the break safely with their loved ones.
“Home Bargains is a family-run business, and we know the importance of being together at Christmas time, now more than ever.
“Our staff work tirelessly to keep all our stores running smoothly no matter what and this is our way of saying thank you to all of our staff for their hard work and commitment.”

The move follows Wickes, which will shut its shops for three days over Christmas this year to give its staff a break.
It’s the first time Wickes has shut its doors on Christmas Eve in its 48 years on the high street.
Meanwhile, Aldi is being praised for giving staff a 10% Christmas bonus to thank them for their work during the coronavirus crisis.
