As part of the changes, Disney+ will hike the cost of its monthly price from £5.99 to £7.99 – an increase of £2 per month, or £24 over the year.

Annual subscribers will see their package rise from £59.99 a year to £79.90 – so you’ll be paying £19.91 more.

The increases aren’t due to come into force until February 23, 2021 for new customers.

But existing customers won’t start being billed at the higher rate until August 23, 2021.

Disney+ price hike – how much are bills increasing by?

DISNEY+ is upping the price of its monthly and annual subscription packages.

For new customers, the price increase comes into force from February 23, 2021.

New customers won’t be billed the higher prices until August 23, 2021.

Here’s how much bills are going up by:

Disney+ monthly package: £5.99 to £7.99 (£2 extra per month, £24 over the year)

Disney+ yearly package: £59.99 to £79.90 (£19.91 extra over the year)

This means if you sign up to Disney+ before February 23, you will pay the lower prices for six months.

Of course, this is only really worthwhile if you were planning on getting Disney+ anyway.

Alternatively, you can also cancel your package or share your subscription with someone else in your household to save even more cash – we explain more below.

Disney+ has more than 86 million subscribers globally and there are more than 1,000 movies, series and originals available.

Save money by sharing Disney+

If you live in a house or flat share, it’s worth checking if any of your flatmates also have Disney+.

That way you could possibly cancel one subscription and share the remaining package while splitting the cost.

You can stream shows on up to four devices at any one time with any Disney+ account.

You can also register up to seven different user profiles and register ten different devices.

How to cancel Disney+

If you don’t really use Disney+, you can unsubscribe for free.

To cancel Disney+, go to your account settings and click “cancel subscription”.

If you’re an annual Disney+ customer, you would have already paid for the service upfront.

Sadly, you won’t be entitled to any money back as you’ve already been debited for the service.

You will, however, be able to continue using Disney+ until the end of your paid-for period.

By cancelling, it means you won’t automatically be charged again for another year.

Netflix has also confirmed it’s hiking prices by up to £24 per year.
