SUBWAY is giving away free sandwiches worth up to £4.50 for customers who download its new app – but you’ve only got until the end of today.

Fans of the sandwich chain with an old Subcard can get 500 points when they download the new Subway app and these can be exchanged for a sandwich, wrap or salad.

To get the freebie, you need to download the Subway app and sign up for the new rewards scheme by the end of today (Sunday October 18).

The idea behind the points boost is to encourage members of the sandwich chain’s old loyalty scheme – known as the Subcard – to move its new one.

If you’re a Subcard holder but you miss today’s deadline, you can still capitalise on free snacks worth 200 points if you join the app and rewards scheme by November 1.

Meanwhile, new users to the app and loyalty scheme can claim 250 points if they sign up.

Subway’s new app offer: What can you get?

WE explain all the different freebies you can get if you download the new app:

Subway customers can redeem points as follows:

  • 100 points can be redeemed for a regular hot drink (341ml)
  • 200 points can be redeemed for a snack or side including hash browns, nachos, bowl of meatballs or a toasted Bite.
  • 500 points can be redeemed for a regular 6-inch Sub, salad or wrap
  • 1,000 points can be redeemed for a regular Footlong Sub

Customers with activated accounts will also get an additional 500 Subway reward points if they buy any Sub, salad or wrap in-store or via the new Subway app before November 15.

Accrue 500 points and that’s enough for a free six-inch Sub, salad, or wrap.

Subway prices vary between branches but if you want to get the most for your points then the most expensive Sub is the chicken and bacon ranch sub at £4.49.

The most expensive salad is the grilled chicken and baby spinach at £5.49.

Subcard customers can continue to use their existing Subcard app for the next 60 days but once it is deactivated they will no longer be able to redeem existing points.

A Subway spokesman said: “The sooner the existing Subcard guest downloads the new Subway app and logs in with their existing Subcard details, the greater the points balance they receive.”

Once your Subway Rewards account is up and running, you will get ten points for every £1 spent on orders.

That means you would have to spend £50 to get a free Sub in future.

Points are accrued when the order is made in store and the Subway Rewards QR code is scanned.

You can also receive points if an order is placed via the app ahead of collecting it in store.

Burger King is also offering free fries and £1 Whoppers for the next two weeks if customers use its app.

Burger King’s existing app offers will also remain throughout the two weeks and over weekends where applicable.

Earlier this month, an Irish court ruled that sandwiches from Subway contain too much sugar to be considered bread.
