But you can help keep your gadget in good condition for longer with a few easy moves.

Here is how to make sure your device goes the distance.

SCREEN SAVER: Dropping your phone is a common accident so shield your screen with a protector.

This will also help prevent scratches, which can dent the phone’s value should you want to resell.

Tempered glass screens tend to guard against the most damage and are good value — get a pack of four for an iPhone 15 for around £4 on Amazon.

CASE CLOSED: Phone cases are another way to buffer your device from bumps.

It is worth investing in one that can absorb the shock when your handset is dropped.

Try the ESR case for around £13 from Amazon.

Apple recommends that certain cases should be taken off when charging devices.

This is because some can generate excess heat, affecting battery life.

If your phone gets warm when charging, take it out of the case in future.

HEAT STROKE: Protect your phone from high temperatures if you want to keep it in good working condition.

Heat higher than 35 degrees can permanently damage battery capacity — so when you are on holidays make sure you put your handset in a cool spot.

Apple warns that charging your phone in a very hot environment can weaken the gadget even further.

BATTERY POWER: Overcharging a device or leaving it to completely run out of life can impair the battery lifespan.

Newer iPhones have optimised battery charging which helps stop charging at a certain point, if you leave your handset plugged in overnight.

If your phone doesn’t have this feature, make an effort to charge it at other times of day. And try to keep charge levels above five per cent.

Do turn it on and off regularly to give your device a needed reset that keeps it running smoothly.
