BURGER King is famous for its Whopper – but how does its newest burger compete?

I went to Burger King’s flagship restaurant in Leicester Square earlier this week to try two of the newest menu items – the Farmhouse Burger and Loaded Fries with Bacon.

Most people love a Whopper, it’s what Burger King is famous for – but my go-to order is usually a Bacon Double XL.

In my opinion, the Gourmet Farmhouse Burger is steps above any other fast food burger I’ve had before.

The burger came out looking slightly different to the image, but the flavour was no let down.

The meat was fresh and juicy, patty soft and chewy and the accompaniments were spot on. It was much more tasty too.

The patty was topped with melted oak smoked cheddar, bacon, sliced pink pickled onion, rocket and toasted onion sauce which made for a really tasty bite.

It was great to look at visually as well, with the pink from the pickles and greenery from the rocket.

However, it’s expensive. The burger alone will cost you £7.99 and £9.99 as a meal, which may be too pricey for some customers.

That’s in comparison to a Bacon Double XL which comes in at £5.79 as a standalone item.

A Whopper costs just £4.99 as well and a Chicken Royale the same.

However, the Steakhouse Angus, part of the same premium range of burgers as the Farmhouse, comes in at £7.99.

Overall, I’d probably give the Farmhouse Burger an eight out of 10 rating.

Bacon Loaded Fries

Moving onto the Bacon Loaded Fries, they were tasty and the portion size was generous, but for me there was a bit too much cheese on them.

But the bacon was a nice touch and was definitely crispy enough and I’d still buy the fries if I went back.

If I had the choice over the Bacon Loaded Fries and normal fries, I’d probably opt for normal fries, especially as they come as part of the Burger King meal deal anyway, whereas the loaded fries don’t.

In terms of cost, they were a bit more reasonable than the Farmhouse Burger as well.

The Loaded Fries with Cheese on their own were £3.29 and with bacon added £3.99.

Overall, I’d give the Bacon Loaded Fries a six out of 10 rating.

How much does it cost to get food delivered?

The Farmhouse Burger and Loaded Fries are available to order on delivery from tomorrow, July 23.

So if you don’t fancy waiting until Tuesday to grab the new items, you can hop online and order away.

You can order Burger King online using both Uber Eats and Just Eat.

Delivery starts at £0.99 on Just Eat and £2.29 for Uber Eats.

Verdict

I usually prefer Burger to McDonald’s – but these new menu items have really swung it for me.

That’s if you can stomach the extra cost.

The new items will be added to BK’s menu on Tuesday July 26 – but you can order them for delivery from tomorrow, July 23.

They won’t be available in all Burger King’s branches, so check before you order.
