The two little-known iPhone and Android tricks that instantly improve your signal – you don’t even have to move

PHONE signal has come a long way over the past decade, but that doesn’t mean anyone is immune to the pain of having zero bars.

Fortunately, there’s two little-known tricks to improving your phone signal – for iPhone and Android devices – without having to move from your seat.

Gone are the days of waving your device aimlessly in the air.

According to Pierre Coppin, Deputy Managing Director at Sky Mobile, sometimes all it takes is an adjustment to your 5G settings.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: “If you’re out and about and struggling to get signal, you could try adjusting the network settings in your phone.

“Often newer phones will try to connect you to the most advanced network, like 5G, however, depending how far away the tower is from
your phone this isn’t always going to be the strongest signal.

“Next time you feel your mobile network isn’t quite as fast as it should be, try toggling between different network modes and see which works best for the area you are in.”

Then there’s the aeroplane modetrick, which you may have heard of – which actually isn’t a myth.

“If you are experiencing patchy mobile signal is turning aeroplane mode on and off,” Coppin continued.

“This forces your phone to reconnect to your network and could improve your signal.”

Two other tricks you can try (but unfortunately do require more effort) are having a walk around in search of better signal or reconsidering your network provider.

Similarly to Wi-Fi signals, mobile signal can be blocked by certain materials, such as concrete and metal.

It can also be put under pressure if you’re in an area with a lot of people, such as a concert.

“If you’re indoors and struggling to get network service, try heading outside to get better signal,” added Coppin.

“Sometimes the building you’re in can block your mobile signal, particularly if it has thick walls, lots of metal building materials, or if it’s crowded with lots of people.

“Going outside could eliminate these blockers.”

Now, if signal strength is a consistent issue where you live, it could be worth moving to a network provider that offers better signal in your area.
