Low expectation of ‘stand-still’ result at May local elections in England as only 4% of Tories switch to Starmer

Labour is seeing just 4% of Conservative voters switch to its party almost a year into Sir Keir Starmer’s leadership, and party insiders are warning that Labour could lose a slew of council seats in the elections in May.

Officials for Labour have been briefing that a “stand-still” result, where the party gains no seats and minimises losses, would be a good result.
