LIDL has recalled packs of chicken nuggets and chicken pops over fears they could contain salmonella.
Customers are being urged not to eat the affected products, which fall under the supermarket’s Red Hen brand.

The items included in the Lidl recall are Red Hen breaded chicken nuggets (22 pack) and Red Hen southern fried chicken pops (12 pack).
The affected batches of the 400g nuggets have a best before date of February 2022 and a lot code of 30493168.
The 210g pack of chicken pops, meanwhile, have a best before date of 5 February, 2022 and lot codes 22020 or 21920.
Customers who’ve purchased one of the above are being told to return them to their nearest Lidl for a full refund.

PRODUCT recalls are an important means of protecting consumers from dangerous goods.
As a general rule, if a recall involves a branded product, the manufacturer would usually have lead responsibility for the recall action.
But it’s often left up to supermarkets to notify customers when products could put them at risk.
If you are concerned about the safety of a product you own, always check the manufacturer’s website to see if a safety notice has been issued.
When it comes to appliances, rather than just food items, the onus is usually on you – the customer – to register the appliance with the manufacturer as if you don’t there is no way of contacting you to tell you about a fault.
If you become aware that an item you own has been recalled or has any safety noticed issued against it, make sure you follow the instructions given to you by the manufacturer.
They should usually provide you with more information and a contact number on its safety notice.
In some cases, the manufacturer might ask you to return the item for a full refund or arrange for the faulty product to be collected.
You should not be charged for any recall work – such as a repair, replacement or collection of the recalled item.
You can find your nearest Lidl by using its store finder tool. Shoppers don’t need a receipt to get their money back.
Alternatively, you can email [email protected] a photo of the affected product.
You’ll then be issued a refund through the post.
We’ve asked Lidl if the products have been recalled as a precautionary measure, or if anyone has reported getting salmonella, and we’ll update this article when we know more.
Symptoms caused by salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.
In a recall notice posted on its website, Lidl said: “If you have bought the above products, we advise you not to eat them.
“Instead, if you are already making an essential trip to a Lidl GB store you can return the item to the store for a full refund, with or without a receipt.
“Lidl GB wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

Other product warnings to watch out for include Tesco pulling packs of festive fruit and nuts over fears they could make you sick.
A popular baby cereal by Aptamil was also being recalled from major UK supermarkets and retailers over fears it contained pieces of plastic.
Meanwhile, Next has recalled a kids duvet and pillowcase set over fears children could get trapped inside.
