THE XBOX Series X is a good console, but it hasn’t done much to attract widespread adoption, despite over 3 years on the market.

Part of the reason for this is the price of the console, which competes against the lower-specced Xbox Series S.

The Xbox Series X may be getting an all-digital variant soon

New leaked photos, however, have seemingly revealed a new Xbox Series X console that could be sold for cheaper than current consoles.

Previous leaks, mostly leaked through the FTC’s court case against Microsoft, revealed that the company was working on a digital version of the Xbox Series X, codenamed Brooklin.

The console shown in the renderings of the leaked documents was cylindrical rather than rectangular like the current Series X, and didn’t have a disc drive.

Recent rumours suggested that the design had changed somewhat, with the colour of the console changing from black to white.

Now, leaked photos revealed by Exputer have shown a console that takes a few details from each of the leaks, although none of them were 100% accurate.

The all-digital Xbox Series X is white in colour, like recent rumours suggested, but instead of being cylindrical, it’s almost identical in dimensions to the black Series X.

The only visual differences between the new console and the existing Series X are the colour and the lack of a disc drive.

Internally, the console is said to be largely the same, but it will reportedly have a larger heatsink, letting it dissipate heat more easily.

This should mean the console doesn’t get quite as hot, and therefore will be more efficient and use less energy, potentially saving money in the long run.

Further rumours have suggested the new console could be sold for $50-100 USD less than the current Series X, making it appealing to fans who aren’t interested in physical media.

The main purpose of the console would be to attract people to Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass service, which offers players hundreds of full games for a relatively small monthly subscription.

Microsoft has yet to publicly acknowledge or officially announce the new console, but reports suggest it could be released this year.
