A LUXURY yacht has been given an all over solar panel design to make it eco-friendly.

The 60 Sunreef Power Eco yacht also has an electric engine and could be the future of environmentally friendly sea travel for those willing to splash out on a catamaran.

Sunreef Yachts Eco Ambassador and Formula 1 Champion Nico Rosberg said: “It is great to see that the world’s most outstanding manufacturer of luxury catamarans shares my commitment to sustainable technological innovation and I am immensely proud to drive this development forward with Sunreef Yachts.

“It is through the introduction of green technology and sustainable materials in the luxury sector that we create a halo effect on the entire industry.”

The yacht is said to provide silent and vibration-free cruising.

Its twin engines are powered by batteries.

They are said to allow for up to six hours of cruising in silence before they’ll need charging with the harvested solar polar.

The batteries can also power all the appliances for 24 hours and all-night air conditioning.

There’s also a backup diesel generator should the captain run into any trouble with the more eco-friendly system.

Despite the yacht technically launching last year, there’s no set price given for such a luxury vessel.

This is because it’s completely customisable so the price will depend on how extravagant the client would like the interior and exterior to be.
