Morrisons are rewarding customers with a scrumptious toasted crumpet soaked in melted butter and lathered in sweet jam.

To receive the mouth-watering offer, all they have to do is “Ask for Ellen” at the supermarket cafe.

The campaign was born from a collaboration with bakery giant Warburtons in a bid to help struggling families.

It began across all 397 Morrisons cafes on March 25 and is running until April 14 – coinciding with the Easter holidays.

It was named after Ellen Warburton, the company co-founder, and is in keeping with their giving spirit – having donated more than one million food items in the past year.

Fans have hailed the crumpet deal, one penned: “What a wonderful initiative, Warburtons and Morrisons! It’s great to see companies stepping up to support their communities in a meaningful way.”

“We will be doing this!” wrote another impressed shopper.

A third loyal customer added: “I’ve done this a few times now.”

And, this is not the first time the delicious offer has been available across stores during the kid’s school holidays.

Last year, over 300,000 portions of crumpets were given away during the summer holidays and autumn half term.

It comes as research showed over six million families notice an increase in their weekly shopping bill during the school holidays.

And, a whopping 82 per cent of parents fork out more on snacks to keep hungry kids at bay.

Morrisons also offer a kids eat free in the cafe when you purchase any adult meal with a value of £4.50 or over.

The offer is limited to one free meal from the kid’s menu with any one adult meal and excludes all cafe specials.

The kid’s meal includes a piece of fruit and Tropicana kid’s orange or apple drink or a bottle of water.

You can find more details of the offer on the Morrisons website.

It comes as Morrisons shoppers are going wild over a new “dreamy” ice cream which is making its way to shop shelves.

The supermarket has started selling Angel Delight ice cream sticks, in two classic flavours banana and butterscotch.
