Netflix is expected to reveal tomorrow that it has amassed more than 200m subscribers.
The video streaming giant, which had 195m paying customers at the end of September, previously predicted it would reach 201.2m by the end of last year.
Demand has been turbocharged by the pandemic. However, Netflix – which makes shows such as The Crown and Stranger Things – has also faced an unprecedented challenge from Disney, which launched rival streaming service Disney Plus in late 2019.

The platform has a formidable library of content and amassed 87m subscribers. Disney predicts it could reach 270m by 2024.
Analysts suspect the huge growth in Netflix’s subscribers in the first half of 2020 – when many households were first under lockdown – was not repeated in the second half.
Between the end of 2019 and June, Netflix added 26m subscribers, whereas by the end of September it had added just over 2m more.
The service has just hiked prices which, coupled with the greater competition, could prompt more cancellations.
