IN the gaming industry there is a lot of money that can be made from remastering, remaking, and rebooting older games.
Some of the best games of last year were remakes, including the Game of the Year nominated Resident Evil 4 remake.
While the majority of remakes and remasters are for already popular games, one company has decided to make a different choice.
Limited Run Games is publishing Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties, a game that was released for the short-lived Panasonic 3DO console in 1994.
Available now, for PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch, Plumber Don’t Wear Ties is notorious for being one of the worst games of all time.
It has been called a “shallow, hateful waste of a game” by one critic, and “the worst storyline in gaming history” by another.

There are a number of reasons why Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties has drawn gamers’ distaste.
The story is nonsensical and shallow, and instead of being in full-motion video, money was saved by instead using a series of still images.
These images often have weird after effects and filters added, and the sound quality is very poor.
Despite its obviously bad quality, Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties has gained infamy within the gaming audience.

Much like how people enjoy B-movies like The Room, it has gained a cult status.
Physical editions will be produced by Limited Run Games in the future but for now you will have to make do with digital copies.
