GAMERS are waiting patiently after being tipped off on social media that Currys is to drop PS5 stock at the start of next week.

“This will be one of the last proper stock drops until the new stock shipment comes in between 8th and 15th March,” according to one prominent tipster on Twitter.

Aside from Currys, “Hughes and BT + EE are likely to drop at the start of next week,” gamers were advised.

Game isn’t reportedly due to receive any major shipment of PS5s this month.

But, adds @PS5Instant, Game “could release small number of cancelled or uncollected orders – this would be 100s at best”.

John Lewis dropped PS5 stock recently, but it did not take long for the major retailer to sell out.

And Argos says it is “working hard” to restock PS5s – after launching an investigation after multiple orders were cancelled.

Since its launch last November, millions of gamers around the world have struggled to bag a PlayStation 5.

In response to a question about a possible Tuesday drop, they added: “GAME hasn’t had any new stock in and won’t by this Tuesday.”

A gold-plated PlayStation 5 has gone on sale online slapped with a gargantuan price tag of £500,000 – coupled with crocodile skin controllers.

“Gold PS5 will be assembled from eight sheets, cast in solid gold. This is a real masterpiece of jewellery.

“The gamepad did not escape designers’ attention either. The accessory is made of crocodile leather for real tactile pleasure.

The unique gold PS5 will be released in a limited edition, and the “transaction is accompanied by a personal consultant”.

  • VERY CANCELLED 1,000 PS5 PRE-ORDERS BECAUSE OF BOTS

UK-based retailer Very cancelled 1,000 PS5 pre-orders over Christmas because they’d been placed by ‘Grinch’ bots, The Times recently reported.

And the issue is hitting retailers in America too, with Walmart forced to block 20million bot attempts within just 30 minutes of the console going back on shelves in November, for example.

A group of SNP politicians has urged the resale of consoles bought by automated bots to be made illegal.

  • DEALS UNTIL MIDNIGHT FRIDAY

But the deal ends midnight tonight…

The coronavirus pandemic rampaging across the world has detrimentally affected PS5 stock, according to Kate Cousins, gaming analyst at Shore Capital.

  • ARGOS HASN’T GOT HUGE AMOUNTS OF STOCK

On Twitter, when @PS5UKStock shared pics of PS5 stock in an Argos storeroom one unimpressed person responded: “There’s like 10 consoles there lmao.”

But they were swiftly given an explanation, with one gamer replying: “Yeah due to a lack of chips and semiconductors, fewer PS5 consoles are being made so shops are selling less units.”

  • ARGOS STILL HAS PS5 STOCK!

There are still rumours circling about Argos holding more PS5 stock.

For example, today tipster @PS5UKStock tweeted: “Our insider at Argos tells us that only half of their stock was sold on the last drop.

“Here’s proof that a sizeable number of stock are still at the Hubs.

“We think they’re holding these for the next drop.”

  • PS5 SHORTAGES ‘TO LAST TILL SUMMER’

Shortages of products for the PS5 and Xbox Series X are likely to be a problem throughout the first half of the year, warns Lisa Su, CEO of AMC, the American chip-maker.

“It’s fair to say that the overall demand exceeded our planning and we had some supply constraints.”

UK-based retailers including Game, Argos, John Lewis, Amazon, Currys, Smyths and Very have been overwhelmed with demand.

The Times reported recently that few customers could have predicted a global shortage of consoles.

This was made worse by “price-gouging tactics, with computer bots deployed by dealers to buy limited stock for quick profits.”

  • WHAT DO TECHRADAR RATE THE PS5?

After reviewing the highly-sought after PlayStation 5, what did the TechRadar team think of the console?

“The PS5 is a superb console that offers a compelling next-gen gaming experience – and one that will likely only get better as more titles are added to the lineup.

“The PS5 proves itself to be both powerful and well-designed, though it might be too big for some setups,” their verdict read.

“A couple of issues hold it back from being a five-star product at launch, but otherwise it’s a welcome upgrade over the PS4 and an exciting portal to next-gen gameplay.”

  • Stock expert suggests Currys, Huge, EE, and BT could restock early next week.

  • UK RETAILERS RELEASING 40,000 PS5’S

Rumours are swirling that UK retailers will be releasing 40,000 new PlayStation 5 consoles when they next restock.

If the stock checkers claims are correct, it means more than 200,000 PS5’s will be on sale, making it easier than ever to bag one.

  • ARGOS APOLOGISE FOR CANCELLATION CHAOS

Argos has launched an investigation after people’s PS5 orders were mysteriously canceled, and promised it was “working hard” to replenish its stock.

  • JOHN LEWIS REACT TO FURIOUS PS5 FANS

UK retailer John Lewis apologised to customers yesterday after the consoles sold out in moments.

After restocking at 5am on Thursday morning, the company faced the wrath of furious fans who dubbed the drop “unfair”.

“We’ve had extremely high levels of demand for our website today. As expected, the PS5 has been incredibly popular and as such, is now sold out. We’re sorry to any customers unable to buy it,” John Lewis wrote.

Others fumed they had not received a reminder email despite it being an item on their wish list and slammed John Lewis for “having the worst service going.”

  • SONY ADDRESSES SCALPING SAGA

Sony has enforced a “zero tolerance policy” against scalpers hiking up prices of PS5 consoles.

Since its release in November, gamers have been plagued by people snapping up all of the stock and selling them at drastically inflated prices.

In a statement to IGN India, the tech giant said “We have taken serious note of the feedback of our patrons that have been made on our social media handles and reportedly on other platforms.

“We sincerely expect that the third-party retail partners operate in compliance of the legal framework of our country and follow ethical business practices. We have a ‘zero-tolerance policy’ for any practices that are inconsistent to the afore-said. We have taken steps, as deemed appropriate and available with company including but not limited to discontinuing our association with such channel partners.”

Katherine Chalmers shared a TikTok video explaining how she had put the bid in a blind auction for a random pallet of ex-John Lewis goods.

She earned an impressive haul, including the PS5, but she found out the “reality” was the console doesn’t work.

“They tested it, it stopped working. So it is broken. We will try to get it fixed,” Katherine said.

“All pre orders will be dispatched between 22nd and 28th of February.”

The latest discounts for PlayStation Plus have been revealed by Sony.

The latest PS Plus free games can be downloaded during the next two weeks after launching on Wednesday, but new versions will soon replace them.

Games set to be included in the deal include Assassin’s Creed Odyssey – Gold Edition, FIFA 21 Standard Edition PS4 & PS5, Grand Theft Auto V: Premium Edition & Great White Shark Card Bundle, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order – Deluxe Edition.

  • CUSTOMERS EXPRESS FRUSTRATION AT SCALPERS

Customers desperate to get their hands on a PS5 console have hit out at “selfish” scalpers bagging all the stock and selling them on at extortionate prices.

It has been a long-running issue since the launch of the PS5, sparking petitions and campaigns to stop scalpers.

One exasperated user wrote, “Hopefully. I almost got one from Smyths this morning. Added to basket, got to payment screen, sold out. Then see 5 preorders on eBay within 5 minutes selling for 700. Absolute joke.”

One warned, “Scalpers, your days are numbered,” while another added, “Without question some scalpers will get caught out and I can’t wait for the day!”
