GAMERS are waiting patiently after being tipped off on social media that Currys is to drop PS5 stock at the start of next week.

“This will be one of the last proper stock drops until the new stock shipment comes in between 8th and 15th March,” according to one prominent tipster on Twitter.

Aside from Currys, “Hughes and BT + EE are likely to drop at the start of next week,” gamers were advised.

Game isn’t reportedly due to receive any major shipment of PS5s this month.

But, adds @PS5Instant, Game “could release small number of cancelled or uncollected orders – this would be 100s at best”.

John Lewis dropped PS5 stock recently, but it did not take long for the major retailer to sell out.

And Argos says it is “working hard” to restock PS5s – after launching an investigation after multiple orders were cancelled.

Since its launch last November, millions of gamers around the world have struggled to bag a PlayStation 5.

  • VERY CANCELLED 1,000 PS5 PRE-ORDERS BECAUSE OF BOTS

And the issue is hitting retailers in America too, with Walmart forced to block 20million bot attempts within just 30 minutes of the console going back on shelves in November, for example.

A group of SNP politicians has urged the resale of consoles bought by automated bots to be made illegal.

  • PS5 SHORTAGES ‘TO LAST TILL SUMMER’

Shortages of products for the PS5 and Xbox Series X are likely to be a problem throughout the first half of the year, warns Lisa Su, CEO of AMC, the American chip-maker.

“It’s fair to say that the overall demand exceeded our planning and we had some supply constraints.”

UK-based retailers including Game, Argos, John Lewis, Amazon, Currys, Smyths and Very have been overwhelmed with demand.

The Times reported recently that few customers could have predicted a global shortage of consoles.

This was made worse by “price-gouging tactics, with computer bots deployed by dealers to buy limited stock for quick profits.”

  • WHAT DO TECHRADAR RATE THE PS5?

After reviewing the highly-sought after PlayStation 5, what did the TechRadar team think of the console?

“The PS5 is a superb console that offers a compelling next-gen gaming experience – and one that will likely only get better as more titles are added to the lineup.

“The PS5 proves itself to be both powerful and well-designed, though it might be too big for some setups,” their verdict read.

“A couple of issues hold it back from being a five-star product at launch, but otherwise it’s a welcome upgrade over the PS4 and an exciting portal to next-gen gameplay.”

UK retailer John Lewis apologised to customers yesterday after the consoles sold out in moments.

After restocking at 5am on Thursday morning, the company faced the wrath of furious fans who dubbed the drop “unfair”.

“We’ve had extremely high levels of demand for our website today. As expected, the PS5 has been incredibly popular and as such, is now sold out. We’re sorry to any customers unable to buy it,” John Lewis wrote.

Others fumed they had not received a reminder email despite it being an item on their wish list and slammed John Lewis for “having the worst service going.”

Sony has enforced a “zero tolerance policy” against scalpers hiking up prices of PS5 consoles.

She earned an impressive haul, including the PS5, but she found out the “reality” was the console doesn’t work.
