CHILDREN can once again write to Santa for Christmas 2020 and get a response from the big man himself.

It was 1963 when Royal Mail first started helping Father Christmas add some extra magic to children’s Christmas.

And Mr Claus’ elves are continuing the tradition of helping him reply to children’s Christmas lists once again this year – here’s what you need to know.

When’s the last posting date for Royal Mail Santa letters?

The last date letters can be posted to Santa this year is Friday, December 11, 2020.

But it’s always good to get in early to be on the safe side as the festive period is always a busy one for Royal Mail.

Make sure to include your child’s full name and address in their letter and Father Christmas promises he will “try to reply to as many of you as possible” when he gets a break from wrapping presents.

You will need to pay for postage to send the letter, although you don’t need to include a return envelope and stamp inside.

The price of a first class stamp rose to 76p in March, while a second class stamp will set you back 65p.

You can also send a letter to Santa via your kid’s school under the scheme. In this instance, you’ll still need to include your child’s name for a personalised response, but you can include the school’s address rather than your home address.

We’ve asked Royal Mail to confirm if Father Christmas will have time to reply to all children, as well as how long it will take to get a response.

Last year, Santa told us he aimed to get back to children by December 24.

The Sun is also checking if brothers and sisters can send letters in the one envelope or if they’ll need to post lists individually in order to each get a reply. We’ll update this story when we hear back.

Where should I send my Royal Mail Santa letter to?

If you want Santa to reply in English, the full address to send letters to, is:

Santa/Father Christmas,
Santa’s Grotto,
Reindeerland,
XM4 5HQ

If you want Santa to reply in Welsh, the full address to send letters to, is:

Sion Corn,
Ogof Sion Corn,
Gwlad Y Ceirw,
XM4 5HQ

What should you write in your Santa letter?

Address your letter to Santa, with “Dear Santa” or something similar and don’t forget to include your name and address.

Ask how Santa is – you know it’s a stressful time of year for him – then tell him about yourself.

Let him know that you’ve been nice – not naughty – this year.

You can always add a few presents that you would like to receive on Christmas Day.

Keep your letter short as Santa has a lot to read at this time of year.

Finish off by thanking him – that way you will show him how nice you are!

Children have also been able to track Santa’s journey delivering presents around the globe on Christmas Eve in the past.
