Samsung ‘to ditch charging plug from next model just like Apple’s iPhone 12’

SAMSUNG may be following in Apple’s footsteps and ditching free chargers and earphones from the box of its next smartphones.

Despite mocking Apple about the lack of those gadgets with its iPhone 12, new reports suggest Samsung has similar intentions for its Galaxy S21 device.

According to a report from Android Authority, Samsung may by getting rid of free extras in the box of its next flagship phone for environmental reasons.

A lot of die hard Apple and Samsung fans will have multiple chargers and the argument is that the companies don’t have to be making more than necessary.

It’s still annoying for people who don’t own one of their chargers or who need to buy a new compatible charger.

South Korean site ChosunBiz has claimed that the upcoming Galaxy S21 will only be coming with a USB-C charging cable and a SIM tray tool.

That’s what the iPhone 12 now comes with too.

Meaning buyers need to purchase a plug for their USB cable and headphones if they need them.

In contrast, the Samsung Galaxy S20 came with AKG headphones and a 25W fast charger.

After Apple’s recent announcement that it wouldn’t be providing free chargers anymore, Samsung was quick to say they were included with their products.

It wrote on social media earlier this month: “Your Galaxy does give you what you are looking for.

“From the most basic as a charger, to the best camera, battery, performance, memory and even 120Hz screen on a smartphone.”

This bold claim could mean Samsung will struggle to remove chargers if it wants to uphold its dig against Apple.

As with all speculation, we’ll have to wait and hear official word from Samsung before we know for sure.
