The Bounty bar has caused controversy in the Celebrations advent calendar once again

On Tuesday, chocoholics were overjoyed to find that the Bounty bar had been replaced with Maltesers behind the first door.

It came after shoppers slammed Celebrations for putting the Bounty bar behind the first one or two doors of December in the last couple of years.

In 2018, Snickers was behind door number two, although households were less than impressed with this too branding it a “cruel joke”.

But fans have once again been left disappointed to find two Bounty bars in the first three days of December.

One shopper vented on Twitter: “@UKCelebrations what’s the crack with bounties on the 2nd and 3rd? As if this Christmas wasn’t depression enough!”

While another added: “You ‘avin’ a laff @UKCelebrations??!! Two days in a row???!! [sic].”

And a third one said: “@UKCelebrations reeled me in giving a Maltesers on the 1st only to give back to back Bountys. I feel betrayed.”

Plus, a fourth Twitter user added: “Bounty, 2 days running!! I’m not angry, just disappointed.”

The 230g calendar has previously been sold at Wilko for £5, but it’s currently unavailable. It’s also out of stock on both Morrisons’ and Tesco’s websites.

Celebrations boxes usually include Galaxy, Snickers, Bounty, Maltesers, Mars, Galaxy Caramel, Twix, and Milky Way.

Research from Celebrations’ owner Mars has found that 30% of Brits say Bounty is their least favourite Celebrations sweet, although 19% reckon it’s their fave.

Meanwhile, Maltesers’ Teasers topped the survey (22%) as the nation’s favourite Celebrations.

Chloe Smith, Mars’ head of Christmas, told The Sun: “Who were we kidding thinking that Bounty wouldn’t be up to its festive tricks in 2020?!

“The Bounty team went coco-nuts when they found out they weren’t behind door one this year.

“Needless to say, Celebrations HQ has been over-run with Bounty lovers who decided 2020 needs a bit more tropical fun.”

Last week, shoppers were rushing to stock up on Quality Street advent calendars after B&M slashed the price to just £1.49.

Meanwhile, a mum has made a DIY wine advent calendar by using mini bottles on offer at Tesco.

Plus, we round up the weirdest Christmas trees on sale in UK shops this year including minimalist metal frames and rainbow coloured ones.
