SIR Richard Branson’s childhood house, where he plotted his first money-making ventures, is on the market for a cool £4m.
Tanyards Farm, in Shamley Green, Surrey is the childhood home of the billionaire business mogul and founder of Virgin Group. It is described as a “Tardis” and has more than 15 rooms.
Branson, who was estimated to be worth £3.1 billion ($4.1 billion) by American magazine Forbes in June, wrote fondly about the four-bedroom house in his autobiography.
It is where the world-famous businessman first became an entrepreneur. Selling Christmas trees and budgerigar birds for cash in the 1960s.
The property is surrounded by 1.4 acres of rural land, and has four bedrooms, three bathrooms, two reception rooms, a conservatory as well as a study, dressing room, a family room and more for storage.
It also features a spiral staircase, an island kitchen counter, and a jacuzzi bath tub.
The family room has its own entrance and could even be used as live-in staff quarters.
Jason Corbett, director of country sales and lettings at UK Sotheby’s International Realty, who put the property on the market, describes it as the perfect family home.
He says: “This house is full of history, character, warmth and charm. Perfect for families looking to be close to leading schools, yet located in one of Surrey’s most sought after villages, with two lovely pubs, a cricket green and a local shop just a short walk away.”
The listing says: “A wonderful four double bedroom family house nestling in around 1.4 acres that is tucked away in the ever-popular village of Shamley Green with a world-famous former resident.
“Internally, beamed and often double height ceilings and natural light describe this property succinctly. Each room has its individual character and laid out like a Tardis; the accommodation seems endless.
“The beautifully painted bespoke kitchen has masses of work surfaces, a separate larder cupboard and leads to both the garden conservatory and the dining room.
“There is a vast choice of excellent schools in the area, and the surrounding countryside, including Blackheath and Winterfold, provide plenty of walking, cycling and riding facilities through some of the county’s most scenic countryside.”
