Here are some alternative uses for the beverage that will bag you savings too.

GO GREEN: Make your garden grow by keeping used tea bags and adding them to your compost bin.

The leaves will break down quickly and add nitrogen, potassium, and phosphorus to the soil — much-needed nutrients for a thriving garden.

TENDER TOUCH: Cheaper cuts of meat can often be slightly tough but tea can help.

It contains tannins, a natural tenderiser which can break down tough muscle fibres.

Brew up a couple of cups of strong black tea, leave it to cool then soak the meat in the liquid for 30-60 minutes before cooking.

SOOTHING SAVIOUR: Tea bags can be used to soothe the itch and pain of bites and stings.

Simply take a soaked, cooled tea bag and apply it to the affected area for 15-20 minutes.

BREW-TIFUL PAMPERING: Forget the spa.

Instead, save cooled tea bags and use them as part of your pampering routine.

You can soothe puffy peepers by placing the cooled bags on closed eyes for around ten minutes.

Tea contains antioxidants which also makes it a great toner.

Steep a green tea bag in a cup of hot water for 30 mins and let it cool.

Pop it in the fridge overnight and use cotton balls to swipe over your face to brighten skin.

SHINE SAVER: Tea can help to add shine and body to hair.

Simply brew a cuppa and let it cool.

Then pour it over your hair after shampooing and conditioning.

Let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing with cold water.

AIR FRESHENER: Tea can help to remove odours and freshen the air.

Place a few unused bags in a tucked away bowl and let them sit in your home.
