Marijuana has become a go-to treatment for anxiety, pain management and sleeping, but a new innovation is taking the guesswork out of dosing for new users.

Called Mode, the world’s first smart cannabis dosing vape device took the stage at the Consumer Electronics Show, along with a companion app.

The vape device has a touch slider that allows users adjust their dose down to the milligram and is fitted with precision sensors to determine how much is being inhaled.

It also features a Haptic Guidance feature that gently vibrates to notify users when to stop inhaling and when to exhale.

The companion app features a control dashboard where users can access dosage plans, product information, feedback, personalized recommendations and consumption analytics.

Medical marijuana is legal in 34 US states and is used to treat a range of aliments and diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Cancer and Chrohn’s disease.

It has also become a treatment for those suffering with anxiety and sleep disorders.

However, for a new smoker, determining how much to inhale can be tricky.

Izzy Kirsh, co-founder and co-CEO, Mode, said: ‘We initially set out to solve the dosing dilemma for people requiring cannabis to treat injuries, ailments and other health-related matters.’

‘We built dozens of prototypes to deliver vapor doses by the milligram, perfecting consumption levels down to a rudimentary science of what cannabinoids and dosages are required to achieve the right results.

‘What we ultimately created is a first-of its-kind device that offers more control and a better experience for all cannabis users.’

The firm debuted its flagship product at the first-ever all-digital Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

The popular tech conference is usually held in Las Vegas, Nevada, but the coronavirus forced it out of the conference venue and into people’s homes.

But the change has not stopped companies from showcases their latest and greatest innovations.

Mode was inspired by Kirsh who realized the need for personalized dosing of cannabis following a person injury.

He partnered with Mark (Akiva) Wagner and Stephen Bates to design the platform and the trio embarked on a comprehensive R&D exploration, collaborating with a world-class design and engineering team and raising $2.5 million in funding to bring Mode to market.

Owners can also lock the vaping device in order to keep it safe from children.

Mark (Akiva) Wagner co-founder and co-CEO, Mode, said: ‘Cannabis is a dosage-sensitive substance and not a one-size-fits-all solution.’

‘Mode offers a missing device and dataset for the cannabis space, and with the correct analysis and implementation, can open pathways of understanding never seen before in cannabis.’
