HALLOWEEN is here – so what better excuse for sinking your gnashers into a big, fat, sticky toffee apple?

Trick-or-treat may be a no-no in many parts, thanks to the pandemic, but people are bringing the party home — with sales of sweet snacks up 392 per cent on last year.

From party cupcakes and confectionery, to ghost-shaped crumpets and those apples, let the fun begin.

Here’s a few ideas that are not scarily costly . . .

Core blimey: You cannot be without a toffee apple of two on fright night.

You can bag a Parrs one for 75p at Tesco — and they even have ones coated in chocolate if you are not a toffee lover. But head to Asda and you can get a toffee apple for 49p, down from 60p.

Ghostbusters: Start the day as you mean to go on, with ghost-shaped crumpets. You can pick up six for just £1 at Asda. Or grab a pack of six pumpkin-spice bagels, also only £1 at Asda.

Share the good: You can currently get a 22-pack of Haribo Starmix Mini Bags at Sainsbury’s for £2, down from £2.50 — and they are just the thing for a treasure hunt or as prizes for those who are lucky enough to win the frightful family games.

For a bigger sharing tub, a Swizzels at Iceland is on offer for £4, down from £5.

Rotten rascals: For an extremely gross but funny game, check out the Jelly Belly Bean Boozled Jelly Beans, on offer for £1.80 down from £2.10 at Sainsbury’s.

Will you dare to try them? You could end up with a rotten-egg or, er, baby-wipe flavour. Urgh!

Creepy cakes: For the best-looking Halloween cupcakes I have clapped eyes on, you should head to Greggs the baker, where a four-pack is £2.75.

But for flat-out value you’ll have to go a long way to beat Asda’s Halloween offering of a 12-pack for £1.50
