SHOPPERS were left baffled by Superdrug’s bizarre “star buy” of the week which increased the price of hand sanitiser.

Bottles of So..? hand sanitiser were priced at £1.15 per bottle but promoted as two for £3 – meaning the bottles are 35p more expensive if you buy two.

The week's star buy actually left the hand sanitiser more expensive

Daniel Leitch, 23, spotted the blunder at the branch in Victoria train station in London.

He told The Sun: “I clocked it and it made me double take.

“I’m bad at maths but even I could work out it wasn’t a good deal.

“I’d popped into Superdrug to pick up my lunch, so I wasn’t really paying attention to the deals.

“I think a lot of people could have been caught out by that if they didn’t look closely.”

He said the deal was promoted with lots of bright yellow posters next to the tills.

Superdrug declined to comment on the dud deal.

Every week the chain of stores have a different “Star Buy” which changes each Wednesday.

If you’re shopping in store, the bargain product will have a yellow star sticker on it and that the offer lasts until midnight on the Tuesday.

Perfumes are often heavily reduced in the star buys.

Last month we revealed which budget scents from the health and beauty retailer smell exactly like expensive fragrances.

Two girls who at the Newbury store and posted a clip on Superdrug’s TikTok page.

They revealed that each scent in the Artiscent Atelier range is a dupe of a popular, more expensive perfume, but costs just £9.99 for a 50ml bottle.

In the clip, they started with the Spring Fleur scent which they said was a dupe for the popular Chloé Fleur de Parfum, which can retail for up to £75.

And the Patchouli Passion scent smells just like Lancome La Vie Est Belle – with Superdrug selling it for £49.

High street pharmacies to start vaccines as UK records worst day of Covid deaths

Sainsbury’s shoppers felt they were being hoodwinked by the supermarket after it marked up sale offers that were only 1p less.

And shoppers were shocked to see Tesco put security cases on £1.10 Milkybar and Aero chocolate bars to stop thieves.
