You’ll be able to enjoy a pint in a pub beer garden once again from April 12, and you’ll no longer be required to buy a “substantial meal” before ordering alcohol.

Pubs and restaurants will be able to offer outdoor seating with table service. Social distancing and the Rule of Six will stay in place.

Even for outdoor bookings, boozers must only offer table service and social distancing will still need to be observed.

The 10pm curfew will also not return and from May 17, venues will be able to throw open their doors and allow customers inside with the same social restrictions.

How To Find Out When The Pubs Reopen

Here’s what to do to keep you in the loop:

  • Turn on breaking news alerts on your phone to see the headlines
  • Download The Sun app to get the latest daily updates as we report it
  • Sign up for newsletters or emails from your favourite chains
  • Check and follow their social media accounts
  • Sign up to The Sun’s newsletter to get the latest news sent straight to your inbox every day

With only 6 weeks until we can sit outside for a drink and a meal, here are the apps you’ll need to have on hand to enjoy eating and drinking out again.

The orderpay app is a great one to have to see what’s open and serving in your area.

It tells you which bars and restaurants near you are open, and you can use it to order takeaway items, book tables and pay for your meal.

The app tells you what type of service is available at each restaurant, the opening hours and booking availability of the venue you’ve selected.

Greene King has not said when it will open yet, but its pubs, restaurants and hotels are all available on the app.

The app will allow you to view the menu, order food and drink, and pay for your bill, with all drinks and meals served directly to your table.

Keep up to date with when they’re reopening, follow the pub on Twitter and sign up to get notifications for when they post.

However, downloading the free Slug and Lettuce app allows you to book tables, order food and drink and search for nearby venues.

The owners of Harvester Mitchell & Butlers, which own other big chains including O’Neill’s, Toby Carvery, and All Bar One, have warned “a majority” of their pubs and restaurants will stay shut due to outdoor-only restrictions.

But having the harvester app for when they do reopen means you can place and pay for your orders and book a table as soon as possible.

Nicholson’s pubs continue to operate a table service to maintain social distancing when they reopen.

While the Nicholson’s app doesn’t let you order drinks to your table, it does allow you to reserve a seat in your local, which could prove invaluable.

They’re currently still closed, but you can keep up with any announcements about when they’re planning to reopen by checking their website.

Vintage Inns

The Vintage Inns app gives you discounts on food and drink as well as an easy way to make your order.

Whilst there’s been no announcement as to when they’ll reopen, it’s good to have the app ahead of time to check when booking is available and for any updates.

You can also view the menu ahead of time when you do make your booking.

However, existing Heineken customers get two months free. It lets you place orders, get discounts and offers loyalty schemes.

The pub chain haven’t yet decided when they’ll be reopening, and since they don’t have social media, the best way to keep up to date with their decisions is via the app or on their website.

Once their pubs do reopen, you’ll be able to use the app to order food and drink to your table and pay for it all through the app.
