BOOTS is making some big changes to its Advantage Card scheme.

From today the Boots Price Advantage scheme, which was only available in stores previously, will be accessible online too.

It means more savings are up for grabs for customers as they’ll have plenty more chances to cash-in on discounts and offers at the health and beauty giant.

The Boots Price Advantage scheme allows Boots Advantage Card holders access to instant lower prices on a range of products.

It’s a bit like Tesco’s Clubcard – customers don’t need a discount code, or to follow some ten-step routine to redeem.

All they have to do is use their card and the products will be reduced straight away when buying online, or in store.

Boots is making a BIG change to its Advantage card - and it's good news

Boots Advantage Card holders who purchase products included in the scheme will see an average saving of £2.65 per product, claims the firm.

Some products may even see as much as 50% off, with savings as big as £17 too.

That’s the case with one No7 booster serum sold at the store – it was originally £34.95, but Boots Advantage members can snag the product for £17.95.

And other examples hitting the site today include Boots own brand polished tick-on nails kits, that were £5 but only cost £4 for cardholders – saving them a quid.

There’s also No7 Stay Perfect mascara, which is usually £13.50, but only £8.95 with the price advantage – a discount of £4.55 for eligible shoppers.

Even though the new prices may seem inviting, you should always have a shop around before splashing out – there might be an even better deal available from a rival.

Pete Markey, chief marketing officer at Boots UK said: “Price Advantage was born following customer feedback, with many telling us that they would like to receive immediate benefits through their Boots Advantage Card, as well as being able to save up points and treat themselves in the future.

“The response from the store launch has been really positive which is why we are now making it more accessible by rolling out online and adding in more products.”

The scheme was trialled last summer with 50% off select items for Advantage card holders.

After a break, it returned permanently in January this year.

In-store, the products discounted for loyalty scheme members are marked by a pink sticker.

And similar online is a pink disclaimer explaining the saving you could make.

But when shopping online, customers need to ensure they are logged in to their account in order to claim the instant discount – browsing as a guest may mean you miss out.

It’s free to sign up and this can be done online and in-store – or via the app.

But slashed prices aren’t the only thing to hail from the rewards scheme.

Points and prices

Advantage members earn four rewards points for every £1 they spend in-store and online.

And you’ll get an extra 200 points just for downloading the Boots app if you haven’t already.

Plus, over-60s and parents get double points toward certain purchases.

Points can then be saved up and used in-store and online.

They’re worth about 1p each, so Boots Advantage members get a discount of around 4% if they use their loyalty card wisely.

Advantage card members also get a 10% student discount.

There have been drawbacks to the pharmacy brand’s recent shake-ups too though.

Just last month shoppers raged over their points being wiped entirely.

Another change to the loyalty scheme’s terms and conditions means the time you’ve got to use your card before you loose your points will be cut.

It’s going from two years down to just one.

That change isn’t due to take place until the summer, but customers complained of seeing the effects happen early when they couldn’t access their built up rewards on their own accounts.

Boots brushed the issue off as a technical glitch though, and reassured users that if they refreshed the page everything would return as normal.

To avoid losing your points you have to have used your card in-store or online within one year, after that they reset back to zero.
