SPOTIFY is letting music fans use artificial intelligence to create their own “perfect” playlists.

The app has added in a new AI Playlists feature – and it’s live right now.

Sometimes it’s hard to find the exact playlist you want.

With the AI Playlist feature, you simply type in a prompt and Spotify will create a custom playlist just for you.

It means you can ask for extremely specific or niche options that might not already exist.

“With AI Playlist in beta, you can effortlessly turn your most creative ideas into playlists,” Spotify explained.

“Creating a new playlist with AI Playlist is as simple as typing a unique prompt into the chat.

“Looking for ‘an indie folk playlist to give my brain a big warm hug,’ ‘relaxing music to tide me over during allergy season,’ or ‘a playlist that makes me feel like the main character’? AI Playlist has you covered.

“Whether you’re a beginner or an expert playlist creator, AI Playlist pairs our powerful personalization technology with AI to deliver that perfect musical mix, just for you.”

Note that it’s a beta test feature, so it may be buggy.

HOW TO FIND SPOTIFY AI PLAYLIST

The feature is rolling out to iOS (via your iPhone) and Android devices right now.

I tried Spotify’s new Song Psychic feature – it predicts a grim future for my love life and bank balance

It’s initially only available in two countries: the United Kingdom and Australia.

But it’s likely that if the test goes well, it will roll out more broadly – including into the United States.

You’ll also need to be a Spotify Premium subscriber.

To find it, first make sure that your Spotify app is updated to the latest vrsion.

Then go into Spotify on and choose Your Library in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

From there, tap on the plus (+) icon in the top-right and choose AI Playlist.

Then select from one of the suggested prompts, or even type out your own.

Spotify says: “Get creative and be specific! For example, you could try creating ‘sad music for painting dying flowers’ or ‘tracks for horse riding into the sunset’.”

Once a playlist is mocked up by AI, you can then edit it before adding it to your library

You’ll then need to wait briefly while Spotify curates your playlist.

It’s possible to preview and tweak the playlist before you start using it.

You can also add additional prompts like asking it to be “less upbeat” or add “more pop”.

Once you’re happy, tap Create and the playlist will be automatically saved in Your Library.
